It’s for reals, yo.
As reported by Car and Driver, Matchbox® cars (Mattel®) is selling a hand-held version of the famous Big Banana Car.
Never heard of it? Well, a Michigan man originally from Britain - Steve Braithwaite - converted a Ford F-150 into a giant Mustang-powered banana, with a license plate that reads, “SPLIT.” When an officer once pulled him over to question the vehicle’s legality, he actually paid Mr. Braithwaite $20 instead of fining him. (Is this how you get out of a ticket? You drive the officer… bananas? …yeah, I know. Sorry.)
Anyway, Matchbox® will be selling Banana Car toys on Amazon, and it’s probably just as slippery if it lands in someone’s walking path. It just can’t…”peel out” like the real Banana Car can. Muahahaha, I'm hopeless.
The Banana Car is, as Steve says in the Barcroft Cars video, "completely ridiculous," but in every good way. It's an automobile project that's contagious with fun, and he still drives it around the entire country - at highway speeds, no less! He's even built a fundraising effort with it as his way to "pay a little back" to the community, with a strong focus on children suffering health complications. Pay to ride in the Banana Car, or donate directly on his website to help children and their families as they struggle for good health and financial relief. Now that's awesome.
Check out his build in this Barcroft Cars video, below. It's...bananas! 😂
